About the RISC Graduate Programme

R.I.S.C. offers new university graduates an opportunity to expand their professional experience of advocacy and individualised program development over 12 months for people who have disabilities. The program’s primary function is bringing experience and guidance provision to graduates who anticipate and value pursuing a career in the disability field or whose career path would be significantly enriched by quality experience of working alongside people with disabilities.

There are 2 components...

The first component of these roles is paid employment in the field to ensure that concrete interpersonal and professional skills are enhanced in the areas of planning and implementation of skill development (e.g. communication, relationship building, and community networking for the person). This individualised support is achieved in the valuable 1:1 support environment and is community based.

The second component is 15 hours unpaid developmental experience which includes service delivery coordination, facilitation of development, mentoring, training, and access to further professional development in the area of disability support and advocacy, networking.

Plus ...

there will be opportunities to be involved in a range of management roles that graduates find hard to come by. They will give insight and expertise in the inter-related skills required in the running of a non-profit organisation.
