Services

Over the past 25 years RISC has been designed to meet the needs of people with severe and multiple disabilities (intellectual and/or physical) who resided north of Waterworks Rd and between the eastern andnorthern City boundaries, excluding Sandgate, Shorncliffe and Brighton.

Originally started to support persons of working age to gain more independent life skills. We are pleased to be embracing new opportunities to support more people with disabilities seeking one to one support.

Consumers of RICS's service require:

  • Assistance in overcoming social isolation
  • Support in accessing new social contexts in the community
  • Assistance in establishing relationships with members of the wider community
  • Emotional support and encouragement
  • Supervision to avoid endangering oneself
  • Prompting and assisting with basic needs

Through regularly participating in a particular interest in their community, comes the pleasure and opportunities of meeting other people who share similar interests. RISC recognises the importance of meeting new people in the community for a person’s development of their own social network and a positive self image.   Participating in everyday social and recreational activities extendsa positive and valued image of people with disabilities.
